2026 Grant Partner Announcements

Cochise Harm Reduction is honored to share that three major funding partners have invested in our work to support people who use drugs and their families across Cochise County. Together, these grants strengthen the backbone of our programs: peer support, mobile harm reduction, and mobile pantry/food access so that care travels down even the most rural of roads and hardest-to-reach neighbors. Each award reflects a growing recognition that low-barrier, peer-led harm reduction is essential to building healthier, more equitable communities.

2026 INNOVATIVE GRANT | LEGACY FOUNDATION OF SOUTHEASTERN ARIZONA:

We are proud to announce that the Legacy Foundation of Southeastern Arizona has chosen Cochise Harm Reduction as a 2026 Innovative Grant recipient. These funds will allow us to continue to expand our Peer Navigation Program – hiring an additional Peer Navigator later this year and building out the team infrastructure to train and on-board this individual. 🙌

The Legacy Foundation’s mission is to promote population health and wellness throughout Southeast Arizona, and their continued support affirms that people who use drugs are a vital part of that vision.

COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT GRANT | BANNER UNIVERSITY FAMILY CARE:
Additionally, we want to share that CHR has been awarded a Community Reinvestment Grant from Banner University Family Care to continue to expand our innovative Harm Reduction & Mobile Food Access programming.

These funds will allow us to expand into the most rural areas of Cochise County: ensuring our neighbors down dirt roads and in our tiny rural communities can access harm reduction and food services. This investment aligns with Banner’s broader effort to promote health equity and improve access to care for communities across Arizona.

ARIZONA JUSTICE REINVESTMENT GRANT | ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES + VITALYST HEALTH FOUNDATION:

Lastly, CHR has also been chosen for an Arizona Justice Reinvestment Grant through the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Vitalyst Health Foundation! This grant will allow us to continue to expand our novel Mobile Harm Reduction & Food Access Program in Cochise County and offer support expanding our Peer Navigation services to ensure our participants have seamless linkages to treatment services and justice system advocacy.

This grant was extremely competitive, and we are one of only 25 organizations chosen out of 183 applicants. We were also the only Cochise County organization chosen for this award and we are honored to represent rural communities in our grant cohort. This is a 4-year grant for $500,000 and ensures that the services that our community has come to rely on us for are sustainable and lasting.

Thank you, Legacy Foundation, Banner Health, Arizona Department of Health Services and Vitalyst Health Foundation.

Thank you for your ongoing support for our vision of better health for people who use drugs in Cochise County 🎉 Taken together, these three grants help ensure that the services our community has come to rely on-harm reduction supplies, peer support, food access, and advocacy, are more sustainable and accessible. They also send a powerful message: rural communities and people who use drugs deserve a voice in shaping the systems that impact their lives.
