People who use drugs have a higher risk of contracting Hepatitis C and HIV than the general population and face numerous barriers to care due to stigma and lack of transportation to accessing care. CHR recognizes the need to reach people out in the field and connect them to treatment.
Partnering with Arizona Liver Health (ALH) and their Viral Elimination (VEN) centers, CHR and ALH conduct field testing during their mobile outreach routes, performing confirmatory blood draws and coordinating telecare provider visits to diagnose and prescribe treatment. Such mobile outreach connects many of our county’s most vulnerable populations to care they may otherwise go without.
