Cochise Harm Reduction reaching more people with Peer Navigation program, building in Bisbee

Cochise Harm Reduction partnered with the City of Bisbee a year ago to open a brick-and-mortar space on Brewery Avenue, creating what Executive Director Lu Funk calls “more of a sustained relationship” with the community. Designed like “a little store” where people can “fill a bag with the items they want” without financial barriers, the center offers free food, hygiene supplies, and more.

Peer Navigator Vanessa Lopez says, “I’m friends with all of them, and they consider me their friend,” as she helps visitors apply for benefits, find housing, and connect with partner organizations. For community member Cody Pearson, the program means “I don’t have to go without… I can… grab something to eat.” The nonprofit hopes to expand the program countywide after its unexpected success.
