Cochise Harm Reduction sets up shop in Old Bisbee as City misses out on $1 million in state funding that ends up going to food bank

Cochise Harm Reduction (CHR) has opened a new location in Old Bisbee amid significant financial challenges, after the city lost out on $1 million in state funding that was originally intended for local use.

The organization is facing potential service cuts and staff layoffs due to the loss of two critical grants that previously supported nearly half of their budget. Despite these financial constraints, CHR continues to serve approximately 250 people weekly across 16 zip codes in Cochise County, providing essential resources like meals, medical supplies, and peer support to unhoused individuals and people who use drugs.

The organization remains committed to its mission, with executive director Lu Funk emphasizing their dedication to serving the community even as funding becomes increasingly uncertain.
